The Lotus Yoga Centre of Toronto is offering a course taught by Tarver, “The Basic Mindfulness Seminar,” on Tuesdays 4:00-5:30 pm, June 4 to July 16. The course may be attended either in person at the Lotus Yoga Centre, 100 Harbord St., Toronto, or remotely via conference call. Call-in students can listen to recordings of the sessions, so you can participate even if you can’t make the sessions in-person or live on the phone.
The cost is $17/session drop-in, or $100 for the the whole series of seven sessions.
This course will cover Shinzen Young’s Basic Mindfulness meditation system. Beginners with no prior meditation experience can get established with powerful and proven techniques selected and configured to suit their individual strengths and tastes. Experienced yogis (meditators) will find here an opportunity to deepen and expand their meditation practice.
In addition to instruction, group meditation, Q&A, and troubleshooting during the scheduled course time, participants will also be encouraged to set goals for themselves for daily personal practice and to support each other to meet these goals through Internet, social media, and telephone hook-ups to be arranged. Together, we will all make much better progress in our practice than we could do alone. Consciousness is after all a team sport.
Whether you are just trying mindfulness on for size the first time and all you want to do is attend the weekly classes and check it out, or you have an established practice and you want to make use of the group dynamic to support some serious sustained hardcore meditation and really attain something (and help others through your participation!) the structure of this course is designed for you to set and meet your mindfulness goals.
If you want to meditate, you can. Here’s how.
If you have questions about the content of the course or to register for online/call-in attendance please contact me (Tarver).
